Andreas received his Master of Computer Science from Vienna University of Technology in 2004 and a Master of Engineering Management from Duke University, NC, USA in 2005. He started his career at Infineon in 2005 in the Operations & Supply Chain group covering several positions in USA, Austria and Germany. In 2010 Andreas joined the automotive division as product marketing manager for Electric Drivetrain power modules for hybrid and electric vehicles. Since 2013 he is working in RF & Sensors Systems business line within Infineon’s consumer division. He has been substantially growing Infineon’s MEMS Microphone & MEMS pressure sensor business since then, recently as Director Marketing heading the product marketing and application engineering teams. Since March 2019 he is in charge of the accelerator program for environmental sensing.
How MEMS-based CO2 Sensors Will Support The New Normal of Air Quality Monitoring and Contribute to Making Our Lives Easier, Safer and Greener
Improved building insulation to increase energy efficiency is not always good for human health. Poor ventilation can result in a build-up of carbon dioxide (CO2) and even moderate levels of CO2 have a negative impact on health and productivity. With the recent pandemic, awareness of indoor air quality is rising, making accurate, affordable monitoring solutions for indoor air quality more important than ever. If we can reliably measure the CO2 level in an indoor space, we can actively manage the risk of virus transmission. Today’s established CO2 sensors limit a widespread adoption for CO2 monitoring due to size, performance and cost constraints. Recent innovations in MEMS based CO2 sensors leveraging photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS) technology overcome these limitations and will set the base for an area wide adoption to measure what matters, making lives easier, safer and greener.
Here at Infineon, we combine entrepreneurial success with responsible action to make life easier, safer and greener. Barely visible, semiconductors have become an indispensable part of everyday life. Ranked one of the global top 10 semiconductor companies, we play a key role in shaping a better future – with microelectronics that link the real and the digital world. Our semiconductors enable efficient energy management, smart mobility, as well as secure, seamless communications in an increasingly connected world.
Infineon designs, develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of semiconductors and system solutions. The focus of its activities is on automotive and industrial electronics, communication and information technologies, IoT, sensor technology and security. The product range comprises standard components, software, customer-specific solutions for devices and systems, as well as specific components for digital, analogue, and mixed-signal applications.
