Riding carefully the MEMS development waves
More than two years into the pandemic, the semiconductor industry has felt the ups and downs of a crisis, leading eventually to chip shortages which in turn caused delays of electronic systems that incorporate them. Semiconductors have become a hot topic of paramount importance, being a strategic asset of sovereign caliber. Due to that, heavy investments are being poured into manufacturing capacities across all geographies. But what is the status of the situation?
Part of the $500B+ semiconductor market, MEMS sensors and actuators are going through a growth period, driven by various megatrends, such as audio sensing and voice HMI, including sensor-packed TWS hearables, environmental sensing, ADAS and AV, AR/VR, and others. Associated developments in the player landscape are showing signs of strength in this market. In this presentation, we will give a short overview of the global semiconductor shortage and supply chain issues (is it true for MEMS too?) and talk mainly about the ongoing developments in the MEMS market, both on the application and technology side.
