Michele Palmieri leads the Micro & Nano Systems Business Unit at CSEM in Neuchatel. He graduated in Electronic Engineering from Polytechnic of Milan, and joined STMicroelectronics thereafter, where he worked for more than 20 years in semiconductor, MEMS, microfluidics technology and product development. From 2012-15 he served as CTO in Inpeco, developing medical diagnostics laboratory automation systems.

Founded in 1984, headquartered in Neuchâtel, with regional centers across Switzerland, Centre suisse d’électronique et de microtechnique (CSEM) is a private non-profit research & technology organization. CSEM employs more than 500 highly qualified engineers and researchers specialized in microtechnology, system engineering, microelectronics, and optics.

Our mission is the development and transfer of (micro)technologies to the industrial sector, to reinforce its competitiveness. This occurs through collaborations with established companies or via the creation of start-ups.

CSEM maintains a state-of-the-art 150-mm MEMS powerhouse to accelerate and facilitate MEMS development and industrialization. Beside standard MEMS processes, we master critical technologies for the next generation of devices in biotechnology, photonics, and micro/nano-optics, and offer a broad-range of standard and unique process technology.

From simulation to reliability testing and low-volume production (ISO-9001 certified), we support our partners when it matters the most for them. A rigorous industrial approach combined with flexible process development possibilities makes CSEM the ideal Lab-to-Faband scale-uppartner.
